2010 Leadership America Abroad

Navigating the World – Forging Global Connections

Presented By
The Women's Museum: An Institute for the Future
Celebrating a Decade of Empowering Women

In Association with the Smithsonian Institution

INTERNATIONAL SESSION
Abu Dhabi and Dubai, United Arab Emirates
October 18-26, 2010

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The 2010 LA Abroad Program will take a maximum of 15 participants to the United Arab Emirates visiting the dynamic city-states of Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Dubai is considered the business center of the UAE, while Abu Dhabi is the regional cultural center and on its way to becoming an international arts capital.

The cross-cultural experience will include opportunities to absorb the exotic culture of the Middle East, as we visit museums and other cultural attractions. Our participants will make international connections; engage in conversations with business, civic and cultural leaders in the UAE; speak with those establishing education partnerships with U.S. universities; explore business potential; and learn the realities of overseas assignments in conversations with those foreign nationals working and living in the UAE.

The Women's Museum is working closely with the Smithsonian Institution and other high-level connections in the United States and the United Arab Emirates to finalize the agenda. Specific details of the agenda will be forwarded to those who have indicated their commitment to, or, interest in the trip.

The program cost of $6,000 includes tuition, roundtrip air transportation from Dallas (DFW) to the UAE, ground transportation while in the UAE, meals and hotel accommodations. All participants will be notified of their acceptance by July 19th, and a $3,000 deposit will be due on or before July 31st. Please note that scholarships are not available for the international trip.
